THE MANCHESTER AREA POLLUTION
ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Manchester Area Pollution Advisory Council (MAPAC) is a regional environmental protection group representing 12 local authorities in the North West of England. It operates under the guidance of the Greater Manchester Public Protection Partnership, as one of their specialist working groups. In addition, there is partnership working on particular projects with representatives of industry, commerce, medical and academic interests within the region, and consultation with Government departments such as Defra (Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). MAPAC acts as an advisory body to the constituent authorities for the purpose of improving the control and reduction of terrestrial, aquatic and airborne pollution, including noise pollution.

Further information can be obtained throughout the site by navigating via the links in the left hand column.
