The maps identify and quantify the most important sources of pollution in Greater Manchester and Warrington. They are created from an list of all the major pollution sources in an area. It will include pollution from vehicles using our roads, large factories and buildings with heating plant as well as domestic and commercial emissions to air. Information on how much and the location are used to build maps about where and when the pollution enters the air. This is called an inventory and is used to:

The maps below show where the pollution is for each 1 km square. The maps do
not show the levels of air quality or where the air quality targets are
exceeded:
