Travel Schemes and Travel Plans

Travel Plans

A Travel Plan is a written document which tackles problems associated with the work journey, and reduces the number of car journeys being made to, from and whilst at work.  All Greater Manchester local authorities are developing their own Travel Plans and employ Travel Co-ordinators who help and encourage businesses and other organisations to introduce them. See http://www.travelplans.org.uk and http://www.LetsGoToWork.org.uk/ and the Greater Manchester car share scheme.

School Travel Plans

A School Travel Plan is similar to a workplace Travel Plan and is a document setting out a package of measures for reducing the number of car trips made to a school, or group of schools, by parents and staff, and for improving safety on the school journey. The local authority Travel Co-ordinators also work with schools to help and encourage them to develop School Travel Plans. http://www.walkingbus.com/
